The Shizuoka Prefecture has been home to the Edamura family for over five hundred years. On the family farm in the town of Haibara, Isao and Michyho Edamura cultivate several varieties of high grade green tea. Growing and harvesting green tea is a family enterprise in the Edamura family. At peak times everyone in the family contributes to the work force.
The Edamura farm is located on a flat plain surrounded by rolling hills of green tea plants and bamboo forests. The area has retained an old world flavor with farm workers tending plants in traditional straw hats and kerchiefs. The local temple has stood in its place for almost a thousand years and has survived two major fires during Shogun battles.
